La Romería
La Romería
Every year on the 7th of September (except 2020, year of the Covid-19), masses gather to participate in what is believed to to be the oldest pilgrimage / romería of the Canary Islands archipelago. It is a blend of ancient, modern, catholic, sacred, pagan and of course, social happening. The personified statue of the Virgen is carried from a church in the town of Güímar to a chapel in the coastal settlement Socorro.
